So this year is really weird. some how when you realize that you only have 9 months left to do your work EVERYONE talks about it. last year at this time i had only been on my mission for about 3 months. its really not a good feeling to know that this is my last Christmas in the mission field. i love it and i hate it at the same time. but oh well today i will talk to everyone on a topic im learning a lot about, self mastery.

 

in a talk given long ago by elder Nelson of the 12 he says "Since thoughts precede deeds, you must first learn to control your thoughts. “As [a man] thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (Prov. 23:7.)"

 

this talk he gave it in is intitled "self mastery" and the way it has worked for me is to not just gain control of thoughts but to over come the natural man. he also says in his talk that its the power to have "spirit over body" since our spirits come right from the source of all truth(Heavenly Father) we must gain control over our bodies. when we can but down the natural desires that we have in our flesh then we can truly become closer to our Heavenly Father. just as we study and live the Gospel it can change us faster then anything.

 

Jesus Christ taught in John 7:17 that "if any man will do his will he shall know of the doctrine wither i(Jesus Christ) speak of my self or if it be of God."   think about that Jesus said do it and see if its from me or God. they are the same will they want the same purpose. and i love that so much!!
